It's now official: The UAE has become the most vaccinated nation in the world.

As of July 4, the country has administered over 15.53 million vaccine doses. According to data released by the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA), 64 per cent of residents are fully vaccinated against Covid-19, while 74 per cent have received at least one dose.

According to Bloomberg’s vaccine tracker data, the UAE has overtaken Seychelles to become the most vaccinated country. Seychelles has administered enough doses to cover 71.7 per cent of its population.

On May 23 this year, the UAE had overtaken Israel when it comes to vaccination administration rates.

With 157.06 doses administered per 100 residents as of July 4, the UAE still leads the world in this category. The next best are Bahrain and Israel, with distribution rates of 125.75 and 124.8 doses per 100 residents, respectively (data source: Our World in Data).

The UAE offers Covid-19 vaccines to citizens and expatriates for free. It aims to inoculate 100 per cent of the eligible population by the end of the year.

Last week, the Ministry of Health and Prevention had highlighted that 84 per cent of Covid-19 cases were reported among unvaccinated individuals.
