Weather, safety, landmarks, and outdoor activities were evaluated in the report

In the World's Best Cities report 2023, a prominent worldwide expert in tourism, real estate, and economic development placed Dubai first regionally and fifth globally.

The Resonance Consultancy ranks global cities, defined as those with populations greater than one million, by combining statistical performance and qualitative evaluations by locals and visitors in 24 areas divided into six core categories: place, product, programming, prosperity, people, and promotion.

Dubai was voted first in the location category, which included weather, safety, landmarks, and outdoor activities.

Chris Fair, President and CEO of Resonance Consultancy, highlighted Dubai's "torrent of city-building" during the last 24 months.

Based on the assessment, Dubai is an attractive combination of extravagant experiences, Arab history, and luxury shopping.

"Dubai is a city of superlatives: you can take the elevator to the top of the world's tallest skyscraper for a bird's-eye view, and you can bet on the horses in the world's wealthiest horse race," according to the article.

Deep Dive Dubai, the world's deepest pool, Dubai Mall, the Burj Khalifa, Museum of the Future, Mohammed Bin Rashid Library, Dubai Creek, The Palm, Ain Dubai, Cityland Mall, and the Aura Skypool, the world's first and highest 360-degree infinity pool, are among the landmarks and attractions highlighted in the report.

The 10 leading cities in the overall rankings across all categories are London, Paris, New York, Tokyo, Dubai, Barcelona, Rome, Madrid, Singapore, and Amsterdam.

Doha was placed number 27 overall, followed by Abu Dhabi. The Qatar capital ranked first in the prosperity rating, while the UAE capital ranked fifth.

"While Dubai boasts the world's largest, tallest, and most costly items, Abu Dhabi is discreetly focused on heritage and a rich cultural tapestry. It invests in bringing in artists and creators for residencies and multi-show dates," according to the article.

In light of the current Russian aggression on Ukraine, Kyiv was selected as the honorary world's finest city with the Ukrainian capital being characterized as the "urban beacon of fortitude and resistance". In addition, Moscow and St. Petersburg have been omitted from this year's report. Last year, both cities ended in the Top 20.

An extensive study was undertaken on the emergence of cities, the major trends pushing their growth, and the variables that create the perception of urban centers as desirable locations to live, work, visit, and invest in a new global reality in order to produce a list of 100 greatest cities.
